CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library (hereafter“the Library”) has enacted these regulations in order to recruit volunteers from outside the school thereby making broader use of social resources and providing an opportunity for volunteers to realize the value getting involved in social service in the spirit of lifetime learning. Volunteers will be accepted to assist with Library affairs and improve the quality of the Library services.
Must be a National of the Republic of China, 16 years and older, with no school affiliation, having enthusiasm and devotion towards service, no bad habits, and is in agreement with the ethics of Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU).
(1) An announcement for volunteer recruitment will be posted on the website of the Library before the start of every semester.
(2) Applications will be accepted at anytime through mail, phone call or via personal interview.
(3) After passing the interview and verification, applicants who show good performance during the one month probation period will be employed.
(1)Volunteer work is without pay.
(2)Volunteers should obey the rules of the Library and attend basic training. They are expected to arrive at the Library at the scheduled time to sign in and begin their shift. Notice shall be given prior to any absences so that necessary arrangements may be made.
(3)Service hours shall be a minimum of 4 hours per week or at least 16 per month. The basic service hours shall be at least 2 hours per shift. The service period shall be at least 6 months or 96 hours.
(1)Volunteers may read Library books or take out loans with their volunteer cards. Five books may be borrowed at once for 30 days each time and a book loan renewal can be made twice. Other related rules are as per the borrowing rules of the Library.
(2)Volunteers need to wear volunteer cards when they are on duty. Volunteer cards shall be returned to the Library upon termination of volunteer service; at which time borrowed books shall also be returned and volunteer rights will be relinquished.
(1)A performance assessment conducted by the volunteer service authority will include attendance, productivity, attitude, etc.
(2)The Library will give rewards to well-performing volunteers and recommend them if they choose to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
The Library is authorized to terminate the volunteer’s service under the following circumstances:
(1)The volunteer cannot maintain performance of services for some specific reason.
(2)The volunteer has violated the previous regulations or the related rules of the Library.
(3)The volunteer’s poor behavior has affected the reputation of the Library.
(4)Under extreme circumstances, the Library deems the volunteer as unsuitable for service.
Regulations and amendments will be enacted upon receiving ratification by the Library Committee.
