  1. CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library (hereafter referred as “the Library”) formulates the Guidelines in order to not only satisfy CYCU students/faculty/staff and other patrons with their demands for multiple information on teaching and research, but also to comply with resource development policy.
  2. Every eligible Library patron is entitled to request purchase for books, journals or audio-visual materials. The Guidelines are applied mainly to non-academic resources. Purchase requests for academic resources will be processed based on “CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library Book Fund Allocation Guidelines for Departments and Units”, “CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library Selection and Deletion Guidelines for Professional Journals”, or “CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library Selection and Deletion Guidelines for Electronic Databases”.
  3. Evaluation regulations:
    (1) Based on Article 5 of “CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library Resource Development Policy”.
    (2) Patron is required to check Library WebPac before making a request for purchase. Library does not accept request for purchasing duplicate copies in principle.
    (3) Library is in charge of evaluating all requests for purchase. Library may consult related departments when doubtful situation occurs.
    (4) In general, books or audio-visual materials recommended by patrons will be purchased with Library fund. When ordering academic resources, Library will consult with related departments and units to receive approval, then use departmental funds to purchase.
  4. Purchase recommendation procedure and quantity:
    (1) Patron may recommend through “Request for Purchase” on Library website.
    (2) Every patron is allowed to request up to 5 items for purchase every month (including approved, unapproved, and cancelled ones.).
  5. Reservation priority:
    Patron who recommends may receive first priority to reserve the item. Borrowing regulations are based on Chapter 3 of CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library Management Policies”.
  6. Library will send final purchase decisions, by email, to patrons who recommend items for purchase. Library regularly compiles patron’s recommendation list and places orders every week. Patrons may check the progress by searching Library WebPac.
  7. Guidelines go into effect when passed/revised by Library Committee Meeting and approved by the President.
